One wayward surgical stitch has been driving me crazy after the breast cancer surgery. All healing quite well and the stitches were meant to be self disolving, most of them did disolve.. Let's face it though, there's always one and no matter what I tried, it was determined to stay with me! But this evening I went in with a fierce determination, ouch, however I got the little blighter, it have gone, such relief!

My younger sister died from a rare type of breast cancer -- and she was in her 40s. Despite my concerns about her symptoms, she decided to wait until her next mammogram -- and by then, the cancer had taken a deep foothold. It can happen to younger women -- unfortunately.

"Breast cancer increasing in younger women. 'Women under the age of 40, particularly Black women, tend to be diagnosed with more biologically aggressive and rare types of breast cancer, like triple-negative breast cancer and HER2-Positive, according to two other recent studies.' "

CTVNews · Montreal woman dies at 32 after being told she was ‘too young for breast cancer’A Montreal woman who was told by health-care professionals that she was too young for breast cancer but later diagnosed with it, has died from the disease. Valerie Buchanan was 32 when she died at the end of February.

A bit complicated but I had good news today. To be confirmed next week ( after a meeting of the medics that I was inadvertently left off) but I'm told the surgery removed the cancer. It's over to oncology after the official meeting next week and I'll have radiotherapy and then medication for five years. I'm a happy bunny. However a young woman was also there today who had also had surgery on the same day as I did. She has to have more surgery. I sat with her for a while before I left. I feel she will be OK in the future but she has to have more surgery and that's really tough. Please do not ignore any changes you notice. Better to check at the earliest opportunity. #Breastcancer

My surgical woulds are healing although I really do not care for the electric shock type pains that catch me out on some arm movements (Lymph node part of the sugery). I'll know about the next steps after my appontment with the consultant on 1st May. For anyone in the UK, please remember just how precious our NHS is when it comes time for you to vote in the upcoming local elections.

My post breast surgery showers are being comical enough to make myself laugh. Stand sideways on so water does not soak dressings, but the best bit is that a shower cap is ideal for covering a breast, of course it takes some gynastics, holding a showercap, a cloth on top to cover the lymphatic nodes surgery site, and try to wash the rest of the bod! Apart from the fact I'm in pain, it makes me chuckle! #Breastcancer #showercontortions #mastodon #fediverse

Wtaf? Though I do feel validated when I have seller's remorse over my recent decision to close my Audible (and Amazon) accounts.

On breast cancer, I find it interesting that mammograms can test negative but a test with a less well known procedure can apparently flag the presence of cancer. Must find out more...

It's done and I'm back home. It was suggested I stay in hospital overnight for the pain control I'd get but I really wanted to come home. Youngest son stayed overnight and I'm very grateful for that, it felt secure if anything did go wrong. Also loved having company from son #2 during the wait from the tracer injection to going in for the surgery appointment.
Lovely care at Northampton General hospital.

Getting the canula in was a bit of a wince, (understatement) My veins do not play ball with needles! Surgery site very swollen and uncomfortable, now to healing and ten days to see if there has to be a repeat.

Do check your breasts and if there is anything unusual to you, anything, just go and get checked. As the excellent surgeon said, this did not show up on a mammogram, only via a biopsy.

Thank you for all the good wishes, they were very much appriciated.
