Amusing and interesting Kohei Saito's chapter about "Marx in the Anthropocene". Basically a neat speculation on what Marx could have said in his last years after his working notes on ecology and communal societies, and leaving behind Eurocentrism and productivism. According to Saito he would have enunciated "degrowth communism"!! Interesting, no doubt... Not sure though if it is an exercise in Marx-fiction --- but never mind, it might be an efficient fiction...

"#Microsoft has…effectively abandoned data center expansion equivalent to over 14% of its current capacity.

In plain English, Microsoft, which arguably has more data than anybody else about the health of the #generativeAI industry and its potential for growth, has decided that it needs to dramatically #slowdown its expansion. Expansion which, to hammer the point home, is absolutely necessary for generative AI to continue evolving and expanding."

#SlowDown

Doing nothing, rushing nowhere, planning noting is not a waste of time. It is a necessity to slow down, breathe and be in the moment. While I sip my warm coffee, I hear the birds chirping away and see the colours change in the room as the sun peaks through the porthole. #SelfCare #littlethings #slowdown

Well, I'm not crazy about MEGA cruise ships, I do agree that we when we do travel, we should slow down and enjoy the journey.

Could the #airship be the answer to #sustainable #AirTravel – or is it all a load of hot air?

by Laura Hall, December 12, 2024

"Though an airship, which typically flies at around 100-130km/h, won't ever reach the speeds of a jet plane, they are being talked about as forms of slow travel like cruise ships and night trains, where the experience makes up for the speed.

"Airships fly at a lower altitude than a plane, with unpressurised cabins where you can open and look out of the window, making it more comfortable for passengers. The large balloon also takes far less energy to power – and potentially could operate with electric engines powering liftoff and steering, making them a zero-carbon emitting form of air transport. "
