Wondering if anyone here can help? I’ve got the Eufy Homebase 2C camera set, and the iOS app is sending me event alerts, but no clips are saved in the events section. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, restarted the base unit and tried on WiFi and cellular but still no joy. Got a ticket open, but they’re asking for my warranty details, whereas I’m fairly certain this is an app issue. Anyone has this issue and been able to fix it? #Eufy #eufyCam #homesecurity

Help me decide on a #smartLock.
We need to provide access to multiple parties which will change over time, thus we will occasionally revoke access too. Unique, non-duplicated number codes are fine. I also like the idea of a fingerprint lock (if it's fast) and require a physical keyway for eventual battery failure.
This will replace an existing deadbolt.
I hate to require a phone app for it, but also don't want "blind codes" to be in circulation & forgotten about. Some of the app-less smart locks make this failure mode easy.

I will install the lock and its software myself.
We have a mix of Android and iPhone/iwatch/ipad users in the home. Not a sophisticated smart-home setup, but we have a few devices from brands you'd know.

BONUS if we can issue one set of codes that works in multiple locks (and revoke for all the locks all at once).

Hey #DIY #HomeSecurity folks!

We have a few #Nooie #security #camera in our home to keep an eye on our cat when we’re out of town, but they are pretty awful. I want to replace them but don’t like the idea of another company e.g. #Ring having eyes inside our home, so I’m soliciting input for #opensource #selfhosted options.

I’ve some experience w/ #raspberrypi & #HomeBridge, & I’m a novice #Python user though I expect to build on that in the coming months w/ school.

The fact that I knew that this was tied to Peter Thiel due to the Tolkien name is creepy enough.

But to name a security company after a villain whose downfall was NOT SEEING two hobbits walk into his home makes me wonder how many of these folks have ACTUALLY read Tolkien...

Operation #Disenshittification took another step forward yesterday: I replaced my #Arlo video doorbell with a #Reolink, connected to my #Synology DiskStation.

Arlo has increasingly become enshittified as they’ve become increasingly aggressive in pushing customers to over to their cloud based subscription model. It’s a shame, because I’ve got close to $1000 invested in their hardware, but I’m sick of the nag-screens and shrinking functionality.
