The #ravers looking nostalgically at this list of #drugs from #Stonehenge free festival of 1982 (most of whom would have been way underage anyway) seem not to realise #inflation is a thing, and the price of these illicit substances has remained pretty constant even into the modern era - if anything drugs became way more available in wider society by the 90s/00s, you didn't even need a secure chat app for them back then, just asked a friend of a friend)

Channel hopping before going to bed and I stumbled across Dr Alice on a Timewatch guide to Stonehenge. First of four episodes so I expected some detail and wasn't disappointed.
A well done docu into historical interpretations, suitably devoid of all the drama and indulgence I've come to expect from such things.
Also: I was in it! I was 'Red Leader' in the Secrets of Lost Empires programme!

"Ancient Thoughts in an Ancient Place." 🖤🩶🖤 :crow:

This is a rook at Stonehenge. Rooks nest in the rocks there, as do jackdaws, and have done for countless years. I wonder what they think of all the humans who come to visit.

Photographer - John Westergreen, to whom I credit the marvelous and very apt title.

„Three years after bursting on the scene in a blaze of orange, at the end of April we’ll be hanging up the hi vis.
Just Stop Oil’s initial demand to end new oil and gas is now government policy, making us one of the most #successful civil resistance campaigns in recent history. We’ve kept over 4.4 billion #barrels of oil in the ground and the courts have ruled new oil and gas licences #unlawful.
So it is the end of soup on Van Goghs, cornstarch on #Stonehenge and slow marching in the streets. But it is not the end of trials, of tagging and surveillance, of fines, probation and years in prison. We have exposed the corruption at the heart of our legal system, which protects those causing death and destruction while prosecuting those seeking to minimize harm. Just Stop Oil will continue to tell the truth in the courts, speak out for our political prisoners and call out the UK’s oppressive anti-protest laws.“

Busy day at Stonehenge as the stones are moved forward one hour

Stonehenge is one of the world's most iconic prehistoric monuments, but did you know that parts of it have been moved in modern times? This fascinating image shows a moment from the 1950s restoration efforts, but with a humorous twist—it almost looks like the stones are being adjusted for daylight saving time! Of course, no one is actually resetting Stonehenge for daylight saving time—but this real historical photo from the 1950s restoration efforts makes it look that way! The Real […]

4,000-year-old Stonehenge-like circle discovered in Denmark

Danish archaeologists have found a remarkable wooden circle from 4,000 years ago in Aars, which bears a strong resemblance to the well-known Stonehenge in Britain. Workers building a housing estate stumbled upon this structure, which has at least 45 wooden posts arranged in a ring about 30 meters (100 feet) in diameter...
