We're changing the MUD from SMAUG to tbamud, based on CircleMUD. We think this is a better starting point, and Circle is nostalgic for a few of us.

I can't stop thinking about the good times back in the 90s when I'd get home from school and autodial the local BBS for hours until someone logged off and I got a spot to play in the MUD.
So I spun one up. I can't let the good times go.

It is interesting that this is *not* mentioned on the allaboutbirds site as far as I can tell?!
One mention I can find on the related ebird.org is "Gray body, sometimes with intense rusty staining."
<Staining> implies external pigment.

This male mallard was really digging into the mud! Maybe it was having a spa day, and the mud helps keep their green head colorful and iridescent!
Mud is a big part of their diet as they have plant material and small organisms like worms and snails.

Been playing on https://www.erionmud.com and am thoroughly enjoying the crafting system. Having the option to just work uninterrupted, in familiar patterns, appeals to my #ActuallyAutistic need for structure and familiarity, while when my #ActuallyADHD side wants novelty, I can go wander the realm and see what pops up. If anyone is looking to play a really cool #Mud out there, I would most definitely recommend playing Clok MUD. Its really an awesome fantasy-type mud where you make your way in the world and it allows you to be free in various ways. Its a classless mud and there aren't levels, but instead you learn by doing. RP is encouraged, and it really is a fun mud to play if you have the time to do so. I have a little less time these days, but Clok has been my home for years and I was sad when it went down, but glad its up once again for sure.
