One thing that would be nice to add is to automatically get the current city/state. I'm in Rochester enough that simply leaving "Rochester, NY" hardcoded and hand-editing the few times I need to is plenty easy, but it's always fun to automate more things.

I tried this (github.com/fulldecent/coreloca) but I and others have found that in recent macOS versions, it asks you to allow it access to location services, but never shows up in the menu to allow that.

I also saw this option (benward.uk/blog/macos-location) using macOS shortcuts, and I tried his shortcut, but I get the error `zsh: killed shortcuts run getCoreLocationData`.

@aaronsgiles #FunFact since #macOS Mojave, Quicklook hasn't been able to be configured to zoom images *up* (when you have its window fullscreened on a second display) to fill your screen, and will always display them at 1:1 if they're smaller.

If you ever want to write another viewer that can be fullscreened to one display, while leaving a file browser for sorting / moving images open on another...

@arstechnica yeah, for me, Windows is only used for gaming. A souped-up Xbox.

And i don’t mind if they snapshot that. 😄

It’s hazardous to use it for anything more. MacOS has gotten much better, particularly when you enable the end-to-end encryption.

Linux, I have faith. Not much more though because I never bother to dig under the hood at everything I use.

Faith in others in Linux to be vigilant for me in the sources.

But faith is faith. 😏

MacSSL: a port of Mbed-TLS for the classic Mac OS 7/8/9

Yesterday we had SDL2 for the classic Mac OS, today we have modern SSL/TLS for the classic Mac OS.

This is a C89/C90 port of MbedTLS for Mac System 7/8/9. It works, and compiles under Metrowerks Codewarrior Pro 4.

This is a basic app that performs a GET request on whatever is in api.h, and prints the result out to the tex

I’m thinking about starting to play games.
I need to have something to do in the evenings.

I’m on a MacBook Pro M4.

I have no idea what I like, since I have never been a gamer.

I’ve read a few reviews, and I’m thinking about getting Baldur's Gate 3.

I guess I get it from Steam?

Does anyone have some input about this?

SDL2 ported to Mac OS 9

Well, this you certainly don't see every day.

This is a "rough draft" of SDL2 for MacOS 9, using CodeWarrior Pro 6 and 7. Enough was done to get it building in CW, and the start of a "macosclassic" video driver was created. It DOES seem to basically work, but much still needs to be done. Event handling is just enough to handling Command-Q, there is no audio, etc etc etc.
↫ A cast of tho

@owainski I like #iWork but it’s a different UI concept than the #MSO #OpenOffice concept so it takes a bit of getting used to. I’ve been using #LiO from its beginning on both #Windows and #Linux as well as #MacOS. The cross-device integration is much better with iWork and I’ve found #Numbers to be more advanced (at least for my limited use of spreadsheets) than either Excel or Calc. But if you use LiO on your desktop or notebook and #Collabora on your tablet or mobile, w/ the Cloud, they work.

I was testing some wallpapers this weekend so I was adding files into /Library/Desktop Pictures over and over so they would show up in System Settings > Wallpaper.

However, I noticed that the files just don't get removed and added in the Systems Settings UI automatically. You have to actually quit System Settings for new items to show.

I feel like old Apple wouldn't have allowed this. That actually was one of the best things about #macOS -- listening for changes to a directory and updating.
