The prompt is Moon
Air, "Moon Safari" 1998
The French duo Air ’s music is often called #electronic or #synthpop, but their beautifully crafted recordings are both more varied and more accessible than those labels imply. Moon Safari, their first album, is full of delicate pop grounded with phat #BassLines, sparkling acoustic instrumentation, and yes, tasty electronics threaded throughout, which all combined to make it an instant #downtempo classic.
There’s a very #MidcenturyModern feel here, a not-quite-ironic #CocktailLounge chic.
I couldn't decide which track to feature so please enjoy "All I Need" with guest vocalist Beth Hirsch,

as well as the album's oh so cool opening track, "La Femme d'Argent"

The prompt is #Alone
#TheSmithereens “Alone at Midnight” from "Especially for You,"1986
#Smithereens never hid their influences, #BritishInvasion #PowerPop especially early #Kinks and #TheWho, but their music never sounds dated; the standout track “Blood and Roses” was regarded as so cool and modern upon its release, it was used to great effect in an otherwise-wordless opening scene of an episode of #MiamiVice. (Move over, #PhilCollins.)
There’s a luminous quality to #PatDiNizio’s vocals - I hear a little #MickeyDolenz, a little #BobMould (which is not a bad delineation of their musical territory), but uniquely his own; Mike Mesaros’s #BassLines offer countermelodies. An occasional dash of #tambourine with the solid drumming adds some #60s energy, their chord progressions both hint at and evoke yearning, and of course there are those jangling/biting guitars. These elements all come together on “Alone at Midnight.”
