Have you ever seen a giant Bible like this? This New Testament was published by Paulus Tossanus, 1665, in Basel. (The one below in my first post) It is therefore in GERMAN. With the size of 42*28 cm, it is indeed the biggest book i own so far. This Bible unfortunately had lost its title page, but still has 5 engraved maps, with minor damages more or less. #bible #books #bookstodon #antique #german

One of Katy’s students found this Telefunken radio — we think from the 1950s — abandoned on the street! How cool is that? It seems you could tune in to the radio everywhere from Finland to Italy with a mere twiddling of knobs / the touch of a few buttons. Apparently we weren’t the first people to think of connecting the continent through sound Let us know if you’re familiar with this kind of radio, we’d love to know more about how it worked.

I visited Robert Haus, a national neon treasure two days ago in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
I have known him online for years, and he moved from Alaska so now he is slightly easier to visit.

Robert has probably the best collection of historic neon artifacts, especially when it comes to old bending equipment, transformers, catalogs, and other difficult to find oddities. "Neon Archaeology" is his thing and his blog catalogs his journeys,

His setups were impressive- he has very comprehensive radio and electrical knowledge around neon bombarding systems. FOCI is lucky to have him around. I gave him some hand pulled tubing to play with in exchange for some coffee beans he roasted and some really old rare electrodes. It was so nice to meet him and his wife.

I found an old letter from "John Kern" inside an old book and I'm trying to learn more. It's addressed to his sister (Mary?), mentions a book titled, "Ladies Museum," and requests flower seeds. Sometimes vintage/antique finds come in stages. I found this unusual paddle and knew I wanted to make it into an amaro flight sampler. This meant searching for small, low glasses with a large foot. They aren't easy to find. Most of these type of glasses have a small foot. It's also hard to find them with unchipped rims.
