It turned out to be a hardware problem after all. I can’t access the boot menu or UEFI, nor can I force the system to boot from USB. The Surface logo keeps flashing on the screen no matter what.
I’m a bit disappointed to have missed the chance to introduce someone to Linux.

#Biketooter :When planning a #bike #route with #FOSS and #OSM based #routing engines, such as #Brouter / #Bikerouter ,the result analysis frequently shows some #surface percentage as "unknown". I guess that's because the #information is missing in the #OpenstreetMap #database .However, when I upload the same track as #GPX into a #commercial #biking application, such as #Komoot or #Cyclers ,the "unknown" has disappeared, while they are also based on OSM. How come?

Is an #ARM #Surface a good idea? I'm wanting a balance of battery life and functionality. #Windows is probably essential given other concerns.
Surface, on AppleTV, does a better job than most of their series at maintaining a plot that makes reasonable sense, and delivers some decent twists throughout season 1.
Every mystery is solved and regenerates as a new mystery which, instead of frustrating me, has left me appreciating the relatively subtle way they play with the audience. But then, I'm not one to figure out what's happening but rather just go along.
The setup for the second season isn't promising though.
