What could be a scene on a rural #SNCB #NMBS Belgian railway line of the 1980s, is actually a picture taken on the occasion of a railfan event in August 2005: railcar 4403 crosses a bridge of the Chemin de Fer du Bocq museum line, operated by the #PFT #TSP enthusiasts group.

The “#Athus-#Meuse” line in #Belgium’s south is part of a major European freight corridor, yet it also sees the occasional passenger train. Today, #SNCB #NMBS Class 08 #Siemens #DesiroML units work the nearly hourly “Local”, yet in the early 2000s, AM41 diesels were in charge, as seen here on my pictures taken back then, i.a. at #Virton.

#Belgian #Railways #NMBS / #SNCB would do better to scrap the concept of First Class in their trains, if they cannot maintain it. Those carriages are very often full of people who have not paid for it. And I end up paying 12 euros more (× 1.54) for a “quiet” carriage that is full of noisy tourists.

Belgian railways, Brussels metro STIB and Flemish bus company De Lijn quit social media platform X, the companies announced Wednesday.

A photo taken at #Charleroi station in April 2002: this is a “traditional” (non-highspeed) service for #Paris via #Maubeuge, originating at #Namur. The train is composed of #SNCF #Corail cars. The #SNCB #NMBS Class 27 electric is hauling the consist on the Belgian portion.

#Brussels Midi in the very early 2000s: this is #EuroNight #EN225 #Donauwalzer for #Munich and, as the name suggests, #Vienna . The Munich portion is positioned right behind the #SNCB #NMBS Class 27 electric, the first car being a #DB sleeper, displaying its blue livery.

#Brussels Midi in May 2001: arrival of train #298, the overnight service from #Milan . The first car (a Belgian I6A) and the powerful #SNCB #NMBS Class 20 electric have been on the train from #Luxembourg onwards, leading the consist over the #Ardennes line.
