Finished the hand embroidery — for a person who doesn’t do a lot of hand embroidery, I’m okay with it

Not sure whether/how I’m going to quilt this. I kind of want it to be more squishy when finished, with that karate chop decorator look to the pillow. Quilting gives it too much body, but maybe I can find a softer batting than I normally use

I went to the national quilt-in in DC today. Just a little sprinkle of rain but otherwise great weather. It was wonderful to meet other women who care about what’s happening with our government at the moment, and do some sewing.

Finished this last night. The pattern is called Sugar and Spice and I got it from Missouri Star in one of my long arm return packages. Original size was 82 1/2in x 91 1/2 in. Called for the use of a charm pack, but I didn’t have enough to make the full size, only had the remains of one, so I sized it down to 38in x 47in and shrunk the borders as well. My triangle work is getting better.

I sewed something! I've been using this as a reward to myself for spending time organizing my sewing space. The fabric is Shweshwe fabric scraps I was given. The bag is just a simple zippered pouch. I quilted the outer layer to help the pouch stand, using batting scraps. Basically a free bag!

The log cabin quilt swatches. It’s a matter of taste, but I am not loving the pink and white combo. The cream/white looks better to me. Happy to take other views on board. The scissors are for scale because think it’s harder sometimes with just a ruler to see how small this is. I did of course make a mistake in the piecing of the cream one but if you don’t tell I won’t mention it!!! The finished patches are tacked in the seam allowance, so larger than the actual size. #MiniQuilt #No52 #quilting #HandSewing

Posted this older quilt on my Pixelfed account (instapix.org/inarticulatequilt) but also wanted to share it here

I wrote a particularly amusing blog post about this quilt back in the day - inarticulatequilter.wordpress.. If you are looking for a little #StarWars-adjacent entertainment but with a quilty vibe today, maybe give it a click

Happy #MayThe4th!

This quilt was made by my grandfather's grandmother. It's probably around 100 years old, give or take 25 years. Sadly I don't know when she made it or which grandmother it was, but I'm happy I've finally found a place to display it.
Due to its age, it's very worn and some parts are delicate, which is why it's not on a bed. I didn't have a place for it in my old apartment, but now I'm happy for it to brighten a wall of my craft room.

Got this back from the long arm folks and finished it today. Really like how it turned out. Used my new method of labeling, but added the year this time.

Had an epiphany about using the left over binding instead of muslin as the backing for the label. Will try that out next time.
