Episode 13 of You & Idol Precure is the first in a while that I quite liked.
It was good that they mixed the confession / love topic with serious sports competition. There were several believable details such as the rather low volleyball skills of most girls, them gushing over a shoujo manga, Uta’s hurt wrist that affected her in the fight, and the classmate’s confession not landing and her falling in love again immediately. The catchphrases were used sparingly. And with all that going on they still snuck in Kaito, a bit of a learning moment for Meroron, and a moment where Cutty seemed redeemable.
If every episode was like this I would love the series a lot more. I hope this is an upwards trend and not a one-time fluke.

New anime: You & Idol Precure

It’s really tough to judge a PreCure series by the first episode because those are usually very similar. This one felt a bit nostalgic because it has been a while since the last seaason where a meeting with the mascot kicks things off. It did a good job of introducing Uta and her surroundings, and suprisingly didn’t force that the other two girls also show up already.

I liked that Uta tried to help Purirun when she (?) is not in immediate danger yet… The search for PreCure was also a bit funny.
I hope Purirun learns to be a bit less selfish / distracted, I already found it a bit annoying.
