Soft spring evening at Plunge Pool, White Memorial Foundation, Morris, Connecticut. April 30, 2025, 4:51 PM.

A deep blue sky with wispy hazy clouds. Following a path through a forest of hardwoods sprinkled with pines and hemlocks. Most of the hardwoods are sporting bright yellow buds, some are sprouting tiny green leaves. Down below, a few shrubs are sporting full coats of emerald green spring leaves. New grass and tiny leafy sprouts in similar shades are emerging from the forest floor. A few feet downhill from the footpath to our left, a brown and dormant marsh begins to fill with bright greens: water grasses and skunk cabbage. A very small stream meanders through this marsh and empties into a small pond ahead of us.

After 4 years we have an uneven number of fish in our ponds. We started with 4 and 4… now we have 2 and 6! Gained a few (naturally!) in the bottom pond and lost a couple to raccoons this winter in the top pond.

So this little fellow that found himself sort of stuck in the pump box of the bottom pond got scooped and is now making new friends in the top pond.

The ponds are looking great right now. The plants are growing fast, the water is crystal clear and the algae is almost completely gone. The little ecosystem is happy! I think the bog filters have made a big difference!

A few weeks ago I put a small pond in my garden. I was happy to find a frog had made its home there but unfortunately today I just found the frog dead in the water

Not sure on the cause of death. It's a sad day .

Evening beneath a mostly cloudy sky with a golden sun trying to burn through near the horizon. Near the shoreline of a small pond and marsh speckled with clumps of sedge starting to turn bright green on top. On the nearby shore tufts of new spring grass are beginning to sprout through last autumn's crumbled brown leaves. Thickets of waxy green mountain laurel shrubs line much of the far shore. Beyond them rises a mature forest of stately trees, predominantly pines and leafless birches.

I fought the #sun and the sun won

Oh well, I'm calling the lens flare "artistic" and post anyway!

This little #pond is right by the entrance to my village. The #eveningSun was so beautiful, and very bright. But I love the #reflections in that pond (I have quite a few of it in the morning sun too, don't know if I posted one already).
I had some me time this afternoon and cycled to the Elbauenpark, where I took gazillions of photos of flowers, landscapes, and art installations. Apologies in advance that you may have to see some of them at some point.
