Behold the Pink Moon.

You’ll note, of course, that it’s not pink. “Pink” is just the name for the moon in April. This one I captured with the ASI678MC. The full disk fits pretty nicely with the Askar FRA400 + 678, though I do need to worry more about it drifting out of frame sooner.

Best 35% of 500 images, 2x drizzle, stacked & sharpened in PlanetarySystemStacker, edited in Affinity Photo (levels, curves, etc.).

The full “Pink Moon”. “Pink” does not describe the color, it is merely the name of the full moon for April. The moon is light and dark gray surrounded by a dark black background.

The sun and moon captured about 6 hours apart on April 23. The sun was super active with tons of sunspots and the moon was 100% full. I captured the moon right after it cleared the trees and the color is unedited.

Both were captured from my backyard with my QHY168C camera and EQ6-R mount. I used a homemade solar filter with Thousand Oaks film for the sun shots.

A raging headache and a nasty cold begs for only one remedy.

One of my preferred “just put it on and chill” records, and still my preferred Nick Drake album.

It’s a huge drag he couldn’t be appreciated in his own time the way he is now.
Better late than never, I guess.
