Ok, sorted out the problems with my Amiga music file-> UADE-> Flac -> NAS conversion script.
I toyed a bit with gbsddialog, bsddialog and gum but eventually I stuck to kdialog for the time being, because it feels native on Plasma 6.
I could fix the problem, and as always it was a stupid bug... (kdialog using qt6 and forgot the script used dbus-qt5...). So, the gauges/progressbar's now working again.
all is well...
An interesting takeaway from my #BSD adventure is, that manual pages can actually be useful.
What if I told you there’s an OS that’s ultra-secure, actively developed — but without much noise? What if I add that Windows, Mac & Android are all using parts of this Operating System?

Currently listening to "ZauberwalD.mod" by slash/atd/rpsg from the revision Demoscene party 2025 and had the compulsion on working on/optimizing my Amiga music file (mod, ahx, prt, tfmx fc14... etc) -> UADE -> FLAC -> NAS shell script...
Not really happy with kdialog/dbus interface on FreeBSD, maybe I should look into other script UI dialogs. Anything other than yad or zenity , which could be used instead? Need a yes/no box and a progressbar. Any hint into the right direction more than welcome.

@kotaro gramted, all of tuhe #Forks that are #BSD-licensed had way more #effort put into them.
#SSPL is still worse than #AGPLv3, but #AGPL & #GPLv3 are just completely disregarding the legal reality of #IP and #Licensing.
Needless to say if I were a #developer of it and had contributed under #BSD license I'd expect to either get my code removed entirely or the license to be kept the same.
I should note that although #AGPL is #opensource, it is a different license than the #BSD it had used before, and that means that #Redis can use #Valkey code but Valkey cannot use the new Redis code (under the current licensing). The move seems to be clearly about trying to undermine Valkey, which just speaks to how much ground they have lost to make such a move.
What's your DESKTOP #bsd preference? I'm ignoring netbsd as I have yet to meet someone who uses it as their primary os (but I'd love to meet!)

Is there a way to set up oauth2 on Dovecot for authentication? (All local Auth, no Google or Microsoft involved). Do I have to run some big chunky java blob like keycloak or is there a much lighter weight implementation C somewhere?
