Starmer might have thought while in opposition it was a good idea to reform/abolsh the House of Lords (although I am not convinced) , but now in government he realises how useful it is - as a gift to retired MPs and donors who will be in his debt.

He appeared willing to break Lords rules by offering access to ministers and other peers during discussions with the fake developers concerning sponsorship of a commercial event in parliament run by his son, a deal that cost £25,000.
