@heyheymomo If we follow the mapping of "French toast" → «pain perdu», we can only conclude that "French onion soup" → «onions absents»

@heyheymomo@socel.net it's not exactly a soup but more like a stew, it's called puchero and is a typical dish from Andalusia (also from some parts of Latam and Philippines) perfect for cold seasons 
Also I like zucchini soup with extra cream cheese to make it cheesy!

@heyheymomo same. French onion soup is both way nicer when you make it from scratch, but three are also really good instant ones. And it can be a main course but also a side dish.

@heyheymomo we call it "soupe à l'oignon", which is a bit strange because reading it you could think there is only one onion in it

@heyheymomo My favourite one is la soupe au pistou: a southern France summer soup made of vegetables (zucchini, green beans, carrots, onions, coco beans, tomatoes), noodles AND pistou (smashed basil leaves with garlic, olive oil and cheese). Truly delicious ^_

@heyheymomo minestrone. It's got everything. I also don't count soup noodle because a) too different, it's it's own category of thing and b) it's not soup unless you're meant to consume the liquid (true of *some* soup noodles but not many). But minestrone is a nice loophole in a way because it often does contain pasta. I make it with tiny shell pasta.
