I’ve made a chart of the first recognizable gameplay footage and NA release date of #Zelda games, the wait from the previous game until first footage, and the wait from first footage until launch.

Naively extrapolating with the average delta between each successive game suggests we won’t see footage of the next Zelda until May 7th, 2028, and it wouldn’t release until July 2, 2030.

Hopefully #Nintendo is shooting for sooner, but frankly, there’s a more than passing chance this comes close.

Ich fand es bei #echoesofwisdom zuerst blöd, dass sich #Zelda zum Kämpfen in Link verwandeln muss. Okay, es ist natürlich das Spielprinzip der Echos. Sie imitiert die ganze Welt und nimmt sie in ihren Dienst. Insofern dann doch wieder ein ganz feministischer Gedanke, dieser Link-Drag. Überhaupt wird hier aus der alten Thematik der Licht/Schattenwelt mit dem einfachen Kniff der Doppelgänger recht viel gemacht. Erstes Game seit langem, über das ich schreiben möchte. #gaming #gamestudies #switch

I'm a few clues behind on the mystery gnome, but catching up! (Also, yes, still leaning in to the Zelda obsession with help from the public library.)

Part of "Professor Fungi" a mystery knitted gnome pattern. It's a purple cylinder-ish shaped piece of knitting on double pointed needles. There is some texture and low-contrast colourwork. It's sitting on a copy of The Legend of Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages manga.

Some #Switch2 game cartridges won’t have data on them — just act as download key cards. You’ll need internet to install, but not to play. They're still resellable, though. Zelda upgrade packs will cost ~$10 USD (or be free w/ Switch Online+), but no DLC included.

Plus Balatro cops an 18+ rating for gambling on YouTube, and Mafia: The Old Country release date accidentally leaks.

🕶️ The game screen is very small (corresponding to the specifications of the NES, whose display is 256×240 pixels). A bird's-eye view of a Zelda-style game, where Link (the protagonist) is walking along a paved road, approaching a house in the middle of the woods. A mini-map at top left suggests a very large map.

📚️ ZQuest Classic is a libre, multi-platform, mature action-RPG engine, that comes with a clone of the NES version of The Legend of Zelda (1986, Nintendo). It lets you play numerous games (700 quests as of June 2023, mostly Zelda-like) designed by the community, and easily develop them thanks to its comprehensive, intuitive editor, which requires no programming (apart from the optional scripting language for extended functions), and also delivers data sets (traditional/improved). The project has brought together a community that has developed significant content, and its development is sustained.
