Additions and changes this release include a pretty big project of enlarging City of Seattle's street name labels, which were too damn small.

2 Line Eastside Bike Connector updated their map to include the new train stations opening today! If you’re seeing this on May 10th, you can go to the opening events!

Naturally, we’ve picked up the new version, and both Greater Northshore Bike Connector and MEGAMAP 1.7 – 10 May 2025 – are now available to download.

But this time, I have something to think about.

They've gone and changed their map key on me, and I'm not entirely sure what to do about that.

* Large expansion north to Lynnwood City Centre across all of SW Snohomish County

* Extension of Interurban Trail in Edmonds to 78th Place West.

* Improved street labelling, mostly in SW Snohomish County.

* Route indicators at map edges describing continuations to destinations such as UW and City of Snohomish

A cooperation between #hairofthedogbrewing and #blackravenbrewing, Hunter is a barrel-aged barleywine (ale), aged in rye barrels from #woodycreekdistilers. The result is sensory-filled journey to be sure. Brimming with notes of smoke, burnt sugar, cola, and dark fruit, this is a sipper that no doubt would pair well with a mellow cigar or maybe a copy of “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”

Sniffing, we recover notes of burnt sugar, almost crème brûlée-like, a bit of black licorice, some rustic earthiness, and a kind of smoked bacon-like aroma.
Sipping, we pick up some cola, mellow peat smokiness, dark fruit, burnt sugar, and a slightly sharp finish. Overall, Hunter has a strong mouthfeel, a definite alcoholic warmth, and with a lingering warmth with some slickness.

* WATERFRONT TRAIL now open in Downtown Seattle. This is a small section opening, but it is an important connection

* HONEY DEW CREEK TRAIL in Newcastle/Renton. Turns out it's a popular paved shortcut

* Better road name markings a few places

* Warnings on 15th Avenue S bike lanes which are now _closed_ now 'til spring

RELEASE: Greater Northshore and MEGAMAP versions 1.4.5.

Three changes. All apply to the MEGAMAP area, only one applies to Greater Northshore, and even that's in Seattle proper, that being a very much needed new greenway north of Lake City.

The Montlake Lid bike/ped bridge over 520 was supposed to be finished today, and it's not. Opening ceremony is tomorrow, and I'm confident it's close enough for that, but I also suspect there may be landscaping-driven closures.

RELEASE: Greater Northshore and MEGAMAP versions 1.4.4.

It's a minor update: a correction to Seattle's map in the Greater Northshore printed area, removal of the construction warning in Bothell, and a MEGAMAP-only update to Montlake at SR-520.

I was really hoping that the Montlake Lid bike/ped bridge over 520 would be open before dropping this. But it's not, and isn't going to be open before or immediately after the election, so I've updated what I can to reflect what _is_ open.

MAPS RELEASE: Greater Northshore Bike Connector Map 1.4.3, and MEGAMAP 1.4.3, are on github.

Literally half this update is in Seattle and only on the MEGAMAP. I guess I maintain Seattle's bike map now. Other stuff includes what I think of as better handling of construction in Juanita and finding a pretty good sharrow neighbourhood route in Kirkland. Enjoy!

So I'm wondering if part of the reason people are driving so stupid is... wait for it... Google!

I was driving across the valley on 124th from #Redmond #Woodinville Rd to Willows. Google didn't want me to go that way (even though earlier it told me that was the way to go)

So it tells me in 1000 ft to make a U-turn. Then in 500 ft.

(it's a 4 lane road. 2 ea way. No light or stop sign.)

And THEN...

"Make a U-turn"

Me: Here?? You decide that the best place to do that is..

#BikeMap UPDATE RELEASE NOTICE

* Greater Northshore Bike Connector Map 1.2.1
* Northwest King County MEGAMAP 1.2.1

The bike part of the bike and sidewalk improvements on 73rd Ave NE in Kenmore are complete! There's still a little work to be done on the sidewalks, but it's good enough for me for now.

Also some updates to bike shop locations (deleting some in Seattle; adding some in Greater Northshore) and a word correction in the MEGAMAP box.

Direct "latest map" URLs have not changed.

Okay, I'm calling it: RC1 is Release Version 1.2 of the MEGAMAP, the combined bike map including Greater Northshore, complete Seattle (the complete part is new), and 2 Link Eastside maps, with also a little chunk from King County Regional Trails to get us all of Lake Washington.

It be LORGE but it be FAIRLY COMPLETE as bike maps go of Northwest King County, except ironically for the little KC-maintained section. But what that does buy you is the last section of the Lake Washington Loop. So I think it's worth it.
