Very sorry to hear that Rachel Herbert passed away on 7th March 2025, at the age of 90. She gave a most memorable performance as Number 58 in the 'Free For All' episode of The Prisoner. "Tick... Tick!"

The Cooler (1974) was a spy novel written by George Markstein, co-creator of 1960s surreal espionage series The Prisoner. It’s based on the real-life Inverlair Lodge, a ‘retirement home for spies’, which also inspired The Prisoner. Patrick McGoohan starred as John Drake, NATO agent. The series was stop-start - two years on, two years off, two years on, two years off, then a final year. The initial episodes lasted half an hour. Then, due to the popularity of James Bond, Drake returned in hour-long episodes, this time as a member of the British secret service, working for MI9.

Very sorry to hear that Christopher Benjamin has passed away. Some of you will know him best as Henry Gordon Jago from that classic Doctor Who adventure, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, but if you are around about the age that I am, then Mr Benjamin will be a familiar face from many a film and television series. He was in three (count 'em, THREE!) episodes of The Prisoner.

Not just a very fine actor but a splendid gentleman too.
