A lot of folks don’t rank #DawnOfSorrow very highly, but after a replay it’s probably my second-favorite #Castlevania after #SotN. Great graphics and music, soul system and weapon upgrades are really fun, and the traditional one-big-castle. I barely missed any magic seals this time; I must have a wiring for it, and I noticed that speed was more important than perfect accuracy.

My 8 year-old beat Symphony of the Night last night. He was having trouble with the Dracula fight and was talking about just not beating the game and instead exploring the castle. i told him that was fine. The game is cool and fun to explore. But last night he asked me if I could help him beat Dracula. So I sat down next to him. Gave him a couple of item and equipment tips. He beat him on his second try. He was so happy and excited to beat it.

Finished my new play through of Castlevania Symphony of the Night. I did an All Bosses, All Relics, Save Richter run. Did the whole thing in 2hours almost exactly (30 seconds over). Not bad at all. I did a luck mode run with a Death skip to keep all my starting gear. Got the Duplicator with the shop glitch. Got the shield rod for the Alucard Shield spell to kill all but 1 boss. Fun run.

Back to SOTN, my 8 year-old wanted to play it over christmas break. His siblings were playing games on the living room tv and I offered to let him play games on my bedroom tv. I asked him if he wanted to play a Vampire hunter game and he jumped at the chance. Since then he has loved it.

He has been coming to me almost daily to tell me about things he has found, bosses he fought, and all sorts of things.

Got the urge to replay Castlevania Symphony of the Night recently. Been watching speedruns and my 8 year-old wanted to play it. I decided to play it quick and do only what I needed to do to beat the game. Used some speedrun strats to bypass parts of the game and ended up beating the game in 1 hour 35 minutes recorded time. Probably spent another 30-45 minutes, maybe an hour, failing and having to reset from last saves. This is a personal best.

So, Symphony of the Night, PS1 or Saturn with this new 'Ultimate Saturn Version' being thrown into the mix?
