Recent Shenanigans: A News Roundup

I’ve been up to some really exciting things that you may have seen on social media. But in case you missed these recent news bites, here’s what’s been going on in the past few weeks… 🙂

1. Recording Session with Claire and Lydia

My first of these nearly back-to-back sessions was for recording soprano Claire Fedoruk and pianist Lydia Wu performing the song cycle I wrote for Claire, “Living the Aftermath“, as well as my setting of Psalm 47 (version for soprano and piano). I just received the final files from that session, and they all sound absolutely amazing! More news to come on when and how those will be released for you to listen to and enjoy! 🙂

2. “First Circle” Recording

The following weekend I participated in the recording session for a college senior I’d been helping out and mentoring a bit for her Senior Project. Her end-goal is to create a music video of a string quartet arrangement of the Pat Metheny jazz-fusion work, “The First Circle”. Later in this post, I’ll share the arrangement that I wrote for this project, which is the version we recorded… 😉

3. Recording “Spiritual Songs”

The very next evening after our “First Circle” recording, I joined a shared recording session in Los Angeles with two other local composers, where I conducted the recording of my brand new work for orchestra, “Spiritual Songs of the New World“! I still need to piece together the stems myself, and mix and master it properly; but give me a few weeks and I’ll be able to share news on its release for you. 🙂

Had to sneak this selfie in before we got started 🙂

4. Two New Arrangements (and One Sheet-Music Refresh)

As mentioned, my original string quartet arrangement of “The First Circle” is now available on Sheet Music Plus, as well as the new arrangement of The Little Mermaid’s “Under the Sea” I wrote for CPP’s joint Flute and Saxophone Choir concert later this month. Enjoy the MIDI demos of both arrangements below:

Finally, I gave a refreshed look to my old violin sonata from 2013 by retyping it into my latest notation software as well as giving it a new, alternate title. It looks good as new and is still just as fun to play! 🙂 Purchase the new sheet music here!

Presenting… “Tzigane Sonate (formerly known as “Gypsy Wanderer”)!

I’m glad to join First Church Boston’s Choral Ensemble and the Society Players Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Gigi Mitchell-Velasco, as #soprano soloist for a performance of Gabriel Fauré’s much loved Requiem, Op. 48.

The annual Collins Memorial Concert, which celebrates the legacy of conductor Leo Collins, is sponsored in part by the Collins Family Fund and the Fund for Special Music. 26 Apr 2025 at 7 PM ET » firstchurchboston.org/events/f
