The rapidly approaching #CanadianElection isn't a certain win for either major party. Polling favours the #Liberals due to interim PM Mark Carney's handling of the US's aggression, but it's missing the returning #snowbird niche. In 2 days I've heard 2 stories from that group: one who hates every dollar "lost" to Liberal policies, has Florida property and is open to ideas like "one Canada-US currency," and another whose car with Quebec plates was vandalized in FLA, who fears invasion.

I'm concerned with how the next couple of years in the US will play out so I'm playing with the idea of delaying cabin construction. I'll have the camper van and the land but maybe I should put in just a shipping container for storage and a deck (AKA a "van dock") for hanging out between adventures.
When it's truly cold in NY I can van-camp my way down to Arizona.

Rocky Mountain High

This image was captured from the back side of the Snowbird as the clouds were breaking up after a large snowstorm. I set this shot up from just below the chair lift looking east. I'm not exactly sure of the name of these peaks but from looking at google maps/earth I suspect that these are called the twin peaks. See the full image here: fineartamerica.com/featured/ro

Avalanche III

This frame shows how the snow starts to spread out after landing in a bowl on the mountain.
If you look at the leading edge of this avalanche you can see that it is not actually rolling down the mountain as you would think. It actually seems to be accelerating underneath the surface layer and blowing the fresh powder upwards. See the full image here: fineartamerica.com/featured/av

Cornice Blast

A few years back I was out skiing at Snowbird Ski Resort in Salt Lake City and we had a tremendous amount of snow the day that we arrived at the resort.
The ski patrol was knocking down avalanches all night. After arriving at the top of the first chair on day 3, I was able to witness this explosion carefully planned by the ski patrol. See the full image here: fineartamerica.com/featured/co
