It's a really bad idea to let #doge access our #socialsecurity information. Which #trump is urging #scotus to rule in favor of that.

For several reasons.

1. IT'S DOGE, and I see nothing efficient about an organization that messes up everything getting access to our most sensitive data.

2. DOGE was made by a guy who runs a #socialmedia company with terrible security, and multiple breaches.

3. It's a list of disabled people being given to a Neo-Nazi.

If a legal system is being abused, it’s bad guys doing it.

Doesn't matter their side.

If they're abusing the legal system, they're bad guys.

People of integrity know what that looks like, beyond rulings as a sole measure of efficacy and fairness.

They also know when a system works, the bad guys say it's broken—apart from the personalities they also target.

Typically, statistically, counterintuitively, 'the process' is what generally works best.

It’s leadership that fails.

The #Trump admin asked #SCOTUS on Friday to clear the way for #ElonMusk ’s #DOGE to access #SocialSecurity systems containing personal #data on millions of Americans.

The emergency appeal is the first in a string of applications to the high court involving DOGE’s swift-moving work across the federal govt.

It comes after a judge in MD restricted the team’s access to #SSA under federal #privacy laws.

Howell: Using the powers of the federal govt to target lawyers…in an overt attempt to suppress & punish certain viewpoints,…is contrary to the #Constitution, which requires…govt respond to dissenting or unpopular speech or ideas w/“tolerance, not coercion.”… #SCOTUS has long made clear…“no official, high or petty, can prescribe what shall be orthodox in politics…or other matters of opinion.”… Simply put, govt ofcls “cannot…use the power of the State to punish or suppress disfavored expression.”…

"Another one heads to SCOTUS: The Trump administration asked the justices to let Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency have access to sensitive Social Security information, escalating a privacy fight that could affect millions of people."

"The Oklahoma Statewide Virtual School Board granted the charter, but Oklahoma’s Republican attorney general, Gentner Drummond, asked the Oklahoma Supreme Court to order the board to reverse course. “This is not [about] free exercise of religion,” Drummond has said. “This is taxpayer-funded, state-sponsored religious indoctrination. That’s what this is. You’ve just got to call it what it is.”

#Trump has proposed cutting spending on #CivilRights enforcement in #schools, work-study programs & services for #students from disadvantaged backgrounds. But one corner of the education budget he would boost: #CharterSchools [I wonder if this has something to do w/the #religious charter school case before #SCOTUS right now]. His budget proposal would increase federal support for new charter schools by $60 million, or about 8.3%.

The #Trump admin today, May 1, asked #SCOTUS to allow it to strip temporary protected status [#TPS] from >300,000 #Venezuelan migrants, a move that would clear the way for their #deportation. The #DOJ asked the justices to put on hold US District Judge Edward Chen's order that halted #DHS Secy #KristiNoem's decision to terminate the temporary #legal status that previously was granted to some #Venezuelans by President Joe #Biden's admin.

Of course. Sigh.

" #Trump admin asked #SCOTUS to end deportation protections for more than 600,000 Venezuelans..

The emergency application seeks to lift a San Francisco-based fed district judge’s ruling that halted admin's plans as a legal challenge proceeds, with that decision finding the abrupt policy change “smacks of racism.”
