Amphitheatre dates to 1st C. CE, built under Vespasian—as was Rome’s Colosseum (1). Temple of Augustus on site of ancient Forum was built early 1st C. CE (2). “The Punishment of Dirce” mosaic from 2nd–3rd century CE (3). Triumphal Arch of the Sergii c. 29–27 BCE honours a Roman family (4).

Amphitheatre.

One of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world. It could hold about 23,000 spectators and hosted gladiator fights, public events, and games. Remarkably well-preserved, it still hosts concerts and events today.

Located in the ancient Forum, which was the city’s administrative and religious center. It is one of the best-preserved Roman temples outside of Italy. Now a small museum displaying Roman stone and bronze sculptures.

A well-preserved Roman floor mosaic discovered in the early 20th century. Depicts the myth of Dirce, a rare and detailed example of Roman domestic art. Located near the Chapel of St. Mary Formosa, it reflects the artistic and cultural refinement of Roman Pula.

A fine example of early Roman architecture, richly decorated with Corinthian columns and friezes. It once served as a city gate.

A good thing with an assistant is to have someone to show the relative size of things.
Like my friend here, showing the size of one of the water basins before entering the first of the main temple constructions of Preah Vihear.
This fantastic mountain top temple complex is just another important part of Khmer cultural heritage to the world, forever for Cambodia to care and protect. It was added to the World Cultural Heritage list in 2008.

Yesterday on my way home from Eureka, I decided to take a pretty big side trip to Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park. It actually didn't work out well (I couldn't get there...) but I did enjoy the 80 miles dirt road driving. All I was thinking while driving was "how do I get this crazy at my age?"

Planning our little trip next month. After last year’s 4,000 mile drive (EV) from Newcastle to Helsinki, it’s a bit shorter, but taking in more of Denmark this time. 4 theme parks booked, and hopefully national parks and photo opportunities along the way!

The first leg is from Calais up to Copenhagen, then we’ll take a ferry across to Aarhus, up to Skagen, and then (couldn’t fit on map) head back south again via the Netherlands and the Belgian coast.
