Just installed the Voyager client for #lemmy I expect to see a huge #redditmigration if popular subreddits like r/politics and r/technology are put behind paywalls.

I tried to switch to lemmy but get the warning "This app is closed-source and can possible collect your data"." Use it at your own risk" .
What does that mean?

@BeAware @inkican Don't go with Lemmy.. Use Mbin indeed (https://github.com/MbinOrg/mbin)! I forked the /kbin project some time ago, I was afraid this would happen. So no worries, just move to one of the Mbin instances (or host your own Mbin instance).
See a list of instances: https://fedidb.org/software/mbin
I totally missed my #CakeDay! (June 10.)
It’s been a whole year since I did the #RedditMigration and joined the #Fediverse!
Do I miss #Reddit? Nope.
#Mastodon definitely seems a lot quieter, but I think that’s due to people treating it like #blogging rather than a discussion board. Which duh, that’s putting the blogging in micro-blogging.
But that’s one of the reasons why I chose Mastodon as my #RedditAlternative, because it’s a totally different experience and I wanted something with totally different vibes. I never got into #Twitter, so Mastodon was a total breath of fresh air.
So Mastodon is my foot in the door and I look forward to gradually continue exploring the Fediverse and what it has to offer.
Have a good day and I’ll see you around!
A year seems overdue for an #introduction .I'm from the #midwest #USA and joined with the #redditmigration wave. I'm a proud husband, parent, software engineer, utility cyclist, and much more.
I post and boost about #pkm (#logseq but also #orgmode), #emacs, #bike s, #safetyrazor s, #life, #urbanism, #NewLiberal / #neoliberal ism (as per https://cnliberalism.org/overview ), #uspol, #programming, #dadjokes, and more. I also play a lot of #tradle and #rogule. Most apps can filter what you don't want to see.

Reddit brings back its old award system — ‘we messed up’
The company said it’s golden upvote system “missed the mark.” (Bwaahahahaha) #reddit #news #RedditMigration

I am the only who think that https://www.reddit.com/r/HPfanfiction/ went completely crazy lately? There are suddenly zillion completely meaningless spam drowning any intelligence to ground. Anybody any idea what happened?
I would really love https://lemmy.world/c/fanfiction@lemmy.ml took off!
Reddit revenue rises 20% ahead of IPO, but it isn’t profitable yet
REDDIT posted a more than 20 per cent rise in revenue in 2023 versus the year before, sources familiar with the situation said, as it prepares for one of the United States’ most anticipated potential initial public offerings (IPOs). #reddit #ipo #liferaft #fediverse #freeinternet #openinternet #fuckuspez #enshittification #RedditMigration
@ecksearoh Unfortunately, I am afraid, the #RedditMigration just didn’t happen. Still, if I need information about even very computer-centric themes (e.g., /r/Debian) I go to Reddit, not to https://lemmy.world/c/debian@lemmy.ml which is more or less dead.
It is still early enough in the #redditmigration that #lemmy or #kbin can easily be replaced if something superior comes along. So if #piefed or #sublinks can develop their consumer facing products better and faster then they will inevitably get the community support. And since sublinks uses the existing Lemmy API it might have the best chance to do so.
You never know, the current Lemmy devs might be pushed aside tomorrow, anything could happen.
Wow #Fediverse, thanks for the help! I am genuinely surprised at how close the results were. It looks like the recommendation is to try out the #Threadiverse (#Kbin and / or #Lemmy) first - but only by 1.8% over #Peertube! Y'all must know that I've been getting frustrated with #Reddit lately. I also appreciate the recommendations for other things to explore.
Now the question is Kbin or Lemmy? Or both? (any thoughts?)
Okay, now that the initial surge of new lemmy instances from the reddit blackout has died down and we have some idea what the landscape looks like, who's got recommendations for a good, queer & nerd friendly, instance I can join to start playing around with it?
