#Palestine / Report: Israel committing war crime of forcible transfer, ethnic cleansing practices in Occupied West Bank

A new report by Yesh Din & Physicians for Human Rights Israel documents the forcible transfer of 7 Palestinian shepherding communities (+1000 people) in the occupied West Bank.

Findings indicate this constitutes a war crime under international law, achieved through systematic state policies & settler violence. The report alleges these actions amount to practices of ethnic cleansing.

The investigation highlights the cooperation between the Israeli military (#IDF) and settlers, violating international humanitarian law regarding the protection of occupied populations and creating an environment where Palestinians are forced from their land.

On Escorting and Joining Attacks (Page 55, The Military Section): "Soldiers often escort and protect settlers who attack Palestinians, do nothing to prevent or stop the violence, and with increasing frequency, join the attacks."

On Direct Cooperation and Affinity (Page 55, The Military Section): "However, there is a strong affinity between the Israeli military and Israeli settlers in the OPT, reflected in official policies, local initiatives by soldiers (some of whom are settlers themselves), and close cooperation."

On State Support (Page 51, Israeli Policy Section): "State authorities – government ministries and elected officials, the army, the Civil Administration, and the police – support and assist shepherding outposts, using a wide variety of means, in the name of common political goals."

Eyewitness Account of State Support (Page 30, Al-Mu'arrajat, Quote from Salman Ka'abneh): "...until the settler scourge descended upon us, and the army, police and Civil Administration fully support them."

On Joint Actions and Blurred Lines (Page 32, Wadi a-Seeq Section): "Soldiers and armed settlers, some in military uniforms, arrived at Wadi a-Seeq in several vehicles. They fired in the air, went into tents, beat residents, threatened them, and damaged property." and later on the same page: "Over the course of that day, soldiers and settlers detained and handcuffed three Palestinians from Wadi a-Seeq, stripped them, beat them for hours..."

Palestinian Perspective on Siding with Settlers (Page 57, The Israel Police Section, Quote from Na'im Abu ‘Eid): "When we call the police, they come with the settlers and soldiers and sit down to have coffee with them. They don't protect us. Complaints are useless. The police and the army only protect the settlers."

[followup] #Palestine / Israeli forces revenge raid Jinba village in Masafer Yatta terrorizing residents and causing widespread damage

According to #Haaretz, approximately 140 Israeli soldiers and civilians (some are settlers from the nearby settlements) conducted a pre-dawn raid on Jinba village in Masafer Yatta (featured in the Oscar-winning documentary "No Other Land"). Residents report that between 2:00-6:30 AM Saturday, forces entered all homes, damaged appliances, destroyed food supplies, and intimidated residents during Ramadan.

Village committee head Nidal Younis stated soldiers forced families including women and children into corners while destroying property. He quoted one soldier saying: "Yesterday you thought you were strong, now we'll show you that we are stronger."

This raid followed a previous day's incident where settlers allegedly attacked six Palestinians in the village, after which 22 residents were detained.

Attorney Netta Amar, representing villagers, has demanded an investigation, calling the incident a "pogrom and hate crime" that indicates "the disintegration of any ethical code and rule of law."

The occupation force spokesperson confirmed conducting an operation to search for weapons but provided no details about findings.

[…] In a letter sent this morning by attorney Netta Amar, who represents the residents, to the army and police, she wrote that "The military militia broke all the houses, cameras, school, clinic, and mosque, and killed and drove away the sheep." She added that "This is a widespread pogrom and hate crime, following the hate crimes and pogrom conducted yesterday, which demonstrates the breakdown of any ethical code and rule of law by the army and settler militias that have taken control of it."

#Palestine / Frontline of colonization: Dutch Christian organizations funding Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank

Dutch Christian organizations, particularly "Christenen voor Israël" (Christians for Israel), are collecting millions of euros annually to support Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, with at least €420,000 documented as going directly to at least 15 settlements in 2023. Christians for Israel has deep connections with Dutch politics, particularly with the #ChristenUnie party, with board members in both organizations.

In an undercover investigation, reporters posed as potential donors and spoke with Nati Rom, who runs a Dutch-registered foundation. Rom explicitly offered to use donations for "cameras, pepper gas and pistols" and discussed ways to hide these transactions.

These settlements are considered illegal under international law, and supporting them contradicts Dutch and European policy regarding the two-state solution. This funding contributes to the displacement of Palestinian residents.

When confronted, Christians for Israel denied financing weapons and promised to stop supporting Nati Rom pending further investigation. Other organizations mentioned in the article were either not available for comment or stated they don't distinguish between where people live in Israel.

#Palestine / Israeli settler attack on Khirbet al-Marajem near a Palestinian village in the occupied West Bank

On Thursday night, March 14, 2025, dozens of armed Israeli settlers attacked the Palestinian community of Khirbet al-Marajem near #Duma in the occupied West Bank, Nablus Governorate.

According to resident testimonies, approximately 40 settlers, some in uniform and armed, attacked around 11:30 PM. Three homes and one car were burned. Two Palestinian infants were removed from a home during the attack. The Israeli military was present but made no arrests. No casualties were reported, but homes were severely damaged.

The village is located near a new outpost called Gal Yosef, which was established after the war on land previously occupied by the al-Rashash community. That community was entirely displaced at the beginning of the war following settler violence.

Duma's council head, Hussein Dawabsheh, noted this was "the latest in a series of criminal acts, with the support of the Israeli government and army."

The town has a painful history - in 2015, an arson attack by settlers killed three members of the Dawabsheh family, including a toddler (the Duma arson attack). Amiram Ben-Uliel was convicted of three counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, three counts of arson and conspiring to commit a racially motivated crime as part of a "terrorist act" and sentenced to life imprisonment.

A week before this attack, Rabbi Arik Ascherman was arrested and removed from the area for 15 days after trying to prevent settlers from taking a Palestinian sheep.

#Palestine / Celebrating Israeli archaeology in the Occupied West Bank

Liat Naeh examines a conference celebrating Israeli archaeology in the Occupied West Bank, clear evidence of a close working relationship between Israeli academic institutions and the Israeli military, specifically the Civil Administration and its archaeological unit (KAMT, Staff Officer for Archaeology).

Naeh argues that this collaboration normalizes and legitimizes the military occupation of the West Bank throught the activities of the KAMT and the Israeli military's Civil Administration (of the occupied Palestinian terittories).

Naeh argues that the conference, through its exclusion of Palestinian voices and its focus on Israeli narratives, served to reinforce Israeli control over archaeological sites erasing Palestinian cultural identity. The event, she explains, is a political maneuver, potentially damaging Israel's international standing and further entrenching the occupation.

[...] When I was a student, there were whispers in the corridors that the identities of the KAMT employees had to be kept secret so they could participate in international conferences without being boycotted. In fact, the organizations "Emek Shaveh" and "Yesh Din" previously sought to publish the names of KAMT employees and their list of excavations, but in 2019 the Supreme Court forbade this, arguing that the publication would harm the researchers' future and Israel's foreign relations. This is the first time I've seen the names of the KAMT archaeologists openly, and in English, no less. Why now? In these days, the Likud party is seeking to strip the KAMT of its power and transfer control of the West Bank antiquities directly to the Antiquities Authority, meaning to Israel, and the discussions on the matter took place in the Knesset simultaneously with the conference. The KAMT for Archaeology, which operates in the shadows, is seeking to come out into the light and prove to the public that it is legitimate.

Analyzing a proposed amendment to Israeli law which enabled all of this, Emek Shaveh, an Israeli NGO working to defend cultural heritage rights and advocates for the protection of ancient sites as public assets belonging to all communities, reached the conclusion that if passed, the law would extend the authority of the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) to the Occupied West Bank, effectively applying Israeli law to the occupied territories.
