Got maybe 1/3 through my first really involved home improvement project yesterday. Our basement has a bulkhead door that's letting in water through rusty holes, and upon further investigation the whole thing was resting on rotted wood and expanding foam.

I fully detached it from the doorway and started to replace the rotted boards with new PT lumber. Took a scraper and sanding sponge to the rust, and started priming with rust-oleum primer.

I made the mistake of being accommodating to my former #landlord and it turned into a big argument via text over electric bills. I just should've completely blocked her after she returned the deposit. She was texting me last night calling me a liar and "unbelievable" when she asked me to keep paying the electric bill and it was just so uncalled for after four years of quietly paying our rent and not asking for much of anything.

Trying to be nice was a mistake

I was cleaning some gunk from the washing machine that came with our house, and I saw something shiny that I didn't think belonged. This nickel was slotted perfectly between the rotating and stationary parts at the bottom of the tub, and it's been worn down smooth on both sides. I wonder how long it's been in there...

I'm so jealous of all the videos I see of dads manicuring their lawns already.

I just want to get out there and rake and over-seed and fertilize my precious lawn. Make cute little lawn stripes and then judge my neighbors for their brown, weed-infested grass.

BUT I still have piles of snow on my lawn that haven't melted away yet!

Some highs and lows of a new #homeowner this weekend:

Went to #Ikea and got some shelving and cabinets so there's actually storage space in our main bathroom. Drilled into our plaster walls without incident and hung everything with 1/4" toggle bolts. It's coming together!

Today it is raining and the corner of the ceiling in our office is wet. I suspect a #leak around the window in the #attic but I now need to crawl over there and take a look. Wish me luck!

The move is done, and our landlord graciously let us out a few months before our lease was up. Unpacking in our very own house and feeling a huge weight off my shoulders. This week my wife and I are going to a friend's #wedding in #Disney world, which will be a great way to decompress and refresh, and then it's time to get blinds and start installing storage on all our lovely walls 😍

Looking forward to shelving where I can see all my stuff.
