For all of you MacOS users out there, I have a question regarding emulators to play old video games.
What emulator would you recommend that I could install that I could quickly and easily play Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar on my Mac?
What all is involved exactly and do I need to own the game in some form or from somewhere, or how would I go about doing this?

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is slightly better than Metroid Prime 1.
After Sky Fortress the game shits itself on discovery. The fourth beam is useless. Super beams are useless. The rest vary between ok and better than the previous game.

I finally found a multi-emulator, an emulator that has many emulator cores within it, that has a game screen that TalkBack can get image descriptions from! And everything seems to be labeled well, too!

Made this issue for Lemuroid, which is an Android app that contains lots and lots of emulators, like Retroarch but uses a simple, Android-native GUI. Just, the game view can't be focused with TalkBack, so no image descriptions.

as for soldering: you don't have to - @etchedpixels has written a very good #rc2014 #emulator which also emulates the #tms9928a - I use it on my @VoidLinux laptop while abroad.
Maybe that is an option for you to get some taste of rc2014?!
