The argument of this book appears to offer an intriguing shift from the usual takes on AI: that it could actually strengthen the relevance of the humanities.

In The Humanities in the Time of AI, Laurent Dubreuil ‘seizes the opportunity of what AI reveals about the meaning of humanistic inquiry to offer a path for the renewal of the humanities on transhistorical, transcultural, and transdisciplinary grounds.’

With the launch yesterday of the State Library of Victoria's new SLV LAB, I thought it was about time I updated the SLV section of the GLAM Workbench. See: glam-workbench.net/state-libra

I've updated the notebooks, software, and config, and added a JupyterLite version of the 'Fun with IIIF' notebook. #GLAM #IIIF #libraries #digitalHumanities

Had an interesting discussion today.

In linguistics, when hiring a postdoc (with some teaching load), you can definitely ask for a trial lesson on, say, the basics of morphology for first-year BA students. If you hold a PhD in linguistics, regardless of your specialty, you should know enough about morphology to do this.

If we wanted to do this in #ComputationalHumanities (or #DigitalHumanities), what might be an equivalent?

Tricky question, huh?
