MDMRNMy Hero Academia - 2014-2024 Wow. My Hero Academia has closed the page on its final chapter. I want to ensure I don't give away any spoilers, but at the same time, I want to talk about this series. This series, when I first started reading it, was just the kind of series that I would get into. It was about superheroes in high school! I grew up on American superhero comics like Superman, Batman, the X-Men, and (as I got older) series like Spawn. A manga series that was like an ode to a world full of superheroes was incredible. As the series went onward, you saw Midoriya and the entire cast grow as characters. It was Deku's story and I'm so glad it was. He was the hero everyone needed from beginning to end. He's humble. He's caring. He loves and cares so fiercely that it's hard for anyone to even understand how he can do so. And his personality is infectious. You see that in everyone around him who, as the series progresses, continue to care so much more about everyone, including the villains they face. Loving your enemy. It's a hard concept, but Deku lives it and in so doing, inspires others to do the same. Reading some of the reviews, some folks felt the ending was underwhelming. I disagree. I thought it fit the tone of the series and the entire ending arc. While the head fake ending with second ending maybe was a bit unnecessary, it reminds us that this world of MHA is a living world that doesn't just cease to be when the series ends. These characters keep going, keep living, keep being heroic. I'm glad I read this series.
