Friends: I'm looking for a farm sitter for a month or two. Off-grid, rainforest, primitive but comfortable, goats, poultry, dogs, cats, fruit trees, eggs, stars, views, safe, secluded. Experienced preferred, but will train the right person! The shoreline 30 min drive. Volcano National Park 40 minute drive. Recreational kayaks available. Starlink, full kitchen. Great for remote work, unless you need it to be quiet. Farms and jungles aren't quiet, but they are interesting. Bring earplugs if you hate roosters and coqui frogs. Time commitment as little as 1 hr a day (negotiable) plus overnights. #BigIsland #Hawaii #travel #adventure

Anyone who follows me knows this feed is heavy on politics. Not today. I choose not to stare at the events in Washington marking the US's descent into darkness. Instead, because this week marks the 3rd anniversary of my move from California to #Hilo, on the #BigIsland of #Hawaii, all day I will be posting things I love about Hawaii. First up: The #geckos!

"Ranching between Two Volcanoes. Pictures from this morningʻs newest eruptive phase at Halemaʻumaʻu highlight Kapapalaʻs unique juxtaposition between this active volcano and Mauna Loa. From this viewpoint at over 5000ʻ above the ground, you can see the Ranch as the green, open area. Halemaʻumaʻu is 2.5 miles from the northeast corner of the Ranch. Mauna Loa is just 11 miles away at the closest point and can be seen under the clouds at the top of this photo and last erupted just two years ago."
