2016 U.S. 2xLP Remastered Reissue
For me, FNM didn’t start to get really interesting until the end of their original run.
I have no love for anything before Angel Dust, and even that was just OK on whole.
However, my deep respect and love for them began with King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime & THIS, which still stands as their greatest album, IMHO.
This album is an absolute master class in artful rock music.

This is legitimately one of my FAVORITE songs of the #90s , and this mix on side A is astonishingly good.
The first time I heard this song was during an MTV interview with Seal. He had played it during the interview on an acoustic guitar, and it caught my young ear immediately.
Every version of this song I’ve ever heard, every mix… is awesome.
It’s just such a phenomenal song.

I gave away five copies of this record as Christmas gifts to people this past year, & those who got one LOVED IT.
Lily Fontaine is a great front woman and performer, and these are just flat out great songs.

This is one of two PG solo albums that I like to go back-to-back with. When I hear this, I immediately reach for SO afterwards.
Although he never made even an average album, I think this & SO are his finest moments.
“Intruder” still unsettles me.

Dude put out nothing but stellar #powerpop albums in the #90s & beyond, starting with this one here (we don’t talk about his first two albums, for good reason).
Girlfriend is a masterpiece of the genre, and I believe the same to be true about Altered Beast, 100% Fun, & Blue Sky On Mars.
None of those four will ever get old.

R.E.M.’s first album for Warner Bros.; hugely successful due to the presence of “Stand” and “Orange Crush”, and full of capital R rock songs in major keys.
THIS is the key record in their discography, as it is the exact point where everything changed. The IRS years were over, and after hearing this, you knew exactly where things were heading.
Still a very good record.

So, when I saw this reissue today in the used bin in MINT condition, I was very happy.
This sounds incredible; fully analog, with that #60s brand stereo: drums hard panned left, guitars hard right, with wonderful mastering.
Just a full, deep sounding press.
