AntoninR2<p>Any vintage Sears Kenmore owners out there? I have a 148/Model 23 and I just can’t believe the max stitch length is right (less than 4mm). Anybody have experience with one of these? The feed also seems kinda weak. The machine is super clean and I can’t see any mechanical issues. Thanks!<br> <br><a href="https://mas.to/tags/sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewing</span></a> <a href="https://mas.to/tags/sewingmachines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewingmachines</span></a></p>
Nick Danger<p>I got annoyed waiting for the parts to fix my Elna so I bid on and won this Featherweight that I will give as a gift. Needs a clean and a new pedal/cord but otherwise excellent. <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewing</span></a> <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/sewingmachines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewingmachines</span></a></p>

Tom<p>I added an overlocker/serger to the sewing machine collection. It's a Brother 925D. 4 threads, differential feed, made in Taiwan, solid metal frame. Just a little lint, no signs of ever being serviced or regularly oiled, barely used I'd guess. I took off most of the plastic covers, blew out the lint, oiled everything that moves, and serged something. Now I can make crooked stitches and the edge to match too!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SewingMachines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SewingMachines</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/overlocker" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>overlocker</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/serger" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>serger</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/MastodonOnly" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MastodonOnly</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CCBYNCND" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CCBYNCND</span></a></p>
Sini Tuulia<p>Meanwhile, I have a deep need. :blob_heart_eyes: <br>I can't believe this is a toy that was sold and that it's so beautiful and such a weird shape, and apparently you can still find original ones that work? Wonderdog<p>So a lot has happened in the last month: My 20 + year relationship has broken up; my aged parents have announced they're moving house; I had a reasonably serious accident; a friend died. Makes you assess what's really important. What you can hold on to. What makes meaning. How many vintage <a href="https://bne.social/tags/SewingMachines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SewingMachines</span></a> do really need, for example? This one, I'll try to keep. My beloved Nana's Singer Treadle. She sewed all her own clothes, and clothes for her family, until her 80s.</p>
Benita Skinner<p>Until…She found a good sale on a Kenmore &amp; suggested I buy it for myself! 🥰<br>Best money I spent, as it’s still the machine I use today. <br>She was a smart lady!! ☺️🥹❤️</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/quilting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>quilting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/vintage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vintage</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/sewingmachines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewingmachines</span></a></p>
Benita Skinner<p>I’m feeling nostalgic today. 🥹<br>This was my Mom’s sewing machine, that she used to sew clothes &amp; do mending. 🥰❤️<br>She let me use it, after learning the basics in school, until… </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/quilting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>quilting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/vintage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vintage</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/sewingmachines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewingmachines</span></a></p>
Heidi<p>Anyone want to share their opinions on <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SewingMachines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SewingMachines</span></a>? I may be interested in buying a new one. I have a 20 yr old Janome that is so loud I can't use it when anyone is home because they complain. It's also cranky &amp; I could never get it to make good stitches consistently. I want to make my own clothing &amp; since this is probably a passing fancy, I'd like to not pay an arm &amp; a leg for it. (Maybe a second hand deal?) I don't mind an older machine and I don't want anything computer-y. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/craft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>craft</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewing</span></a></p>
Sini Tuulia<p>My sewing machine is very slightly but very annoyingly fucky. I think the shaft the presser foot attaches to might be tiny bit skewed, bent or at an angle, because the needle never aligns quite in the middle, and thus keeps bending slowly to the left as I sew... It's not super noticeable unless you're trying to do symmetric, very accurate sewing both sides of the presser foot. Which, coincidentally, I absolutely am! It also considerably shortens the safe life-of-use of the needles.</p><p><a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/SewingMachines" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SewingMachines</span></a> <a href="https://eldritch.cafe/tags/Sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sewing</span></a></p>

'They take ownership in it every year. They don’t look at it as just a class, they look at it as a company. It’s tough to have more than five students at a time dismantling equipment, even though Tiger Recycling moved into its own warehouse space about five years ago, he said.</p><p>"They also have three sheds where they can store items awaiting packaging or shipping.</p><p>Shelves inside the classroom hold huge bins labeled for every conceivable component of computers and TVs, and a stack of desktop computers is piled against one wall, awaiting disassembly.</p><p>"As students arrive on a recent Tuesday afternoon, Cline directs them to tasks and within seconds gloves are on and screwdrivers turning. One student asks for time to work on other classwork and Cline gives him a nod.</p><p>"The class is part of the school’s Career Technical Education program, and participants earn general education credits. </p><p>"He stays flexible with the students and tries to address their needs. Sometimes that means providing math tutoring; last year he had a class of four repeat students who wanted to delve deeper into electronics so Cline accommodated that.<br>He also mentors students working on required capstone projects, including a couple who used recycled computer parts to build new computers.</p><p>"The program brings in an average of $5,000 a year, Cline said. The money is handled by the high school, which then gives Tiger Recycling a budget for items such as tools, safety glasses, work gloves and field trips for students, said Cline, who noted that they’ve never spent more on those things than they’ve brought in."</p><p><a href="https://coloradosun.com/2024/02/14/electronic-waste-recycling-canon-city-high/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">coloradosun.com/2024/02/14/ele</span><span class="invisible">ctronic-waste-recycling-canon-city-high/</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/ReduceReuseRecycle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ReduceReuseRecycle</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/MoreRecycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MoreRecycling</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/LessMining" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LessMining</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/RightToRepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RightToRepair</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/LithiumMining" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LithiumMining</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/CopperMining" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CopperMining</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Reuse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Reuse</span></a> <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Recycle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Recycle</span></a></p>
