MDMRNNew(ish) Read - Scud The Disposable Assassin - The Whole Shebang I read a little bit of Scud, back in the 90s. I had a few friends who were just super into it, so I got into it. But, again, only read some of it. Now, as an adult I'm trying it out again and it is EXTREMELY 90s. First, let's take a step back. Scud is a series about a disposable assassin that you can buy in a vending machine. Set in...well, the 2020s, so around nowish, this Scud unit was sent after an enormous monster with a plug for a head named Jeff. A Scud unit is disposable. So, once they kill their target, they cease to be. So, this unit, our main Scud, maimed his target, brought the creature to a hospital, and paid for medical expenses so Jeff would remain...just alive while Scud kept on living. It's an odd concept. The rest of the series, that I've read to date, involve our titular Scud unit taking independent odd assassin jobs in a wild sci fi world. Imagine a dystopian cyberpunk future that's also a bit backwards with incredible technology. There's tons of violence. There's tons of cursing. There's human-robot sex. There's a resurrected Benjamin Franklin dressed in very little clothing running a crime ring. It's a lot and, again, extremely 90s. I am glad I'm reading it and finally getting closure on how this series will end (i'm a little over halfway through). But, my goodness, it's so wild and over the top. Always. Have you ever read Scud? MDMRNThis past weekend I visited my family and, as my birthday is coming up, they gave me my birthday presents. I had an online wishlist setup and, as you can see, my family went for it with what I wanted! I'm hyped to jump into reading some of these. SCUD is a cool one I read a bunch of in high school, so am excited to finally read the entire series! I'll also get more pics of Bulma when I open her later this week.
