Big Red Barn at Cross Village

Near the northern tip of Michigan's Lower Peninsula in Emmet County is a small town by the name of Cross Village. Cross Village completes then northern end of the Tunnel of Trees on M119.
I found this old barn about a mile outside of Cross Village. The classic lines and deep red really drew me to it.

Big Red Barn at Cross Village This is a big red barn near the edge of a road in the small enclave known as Cross Village in Northern Michigan. The foreground consist of a wood fence and a steel gate that leads to the driveway into the farm. The right side of the image is framed with a tall birch tree. The barns walls are roughly 20 feet tall on the near side. On the far side of the barn the roof changes pitch at roughly 45 degrees. The roof of the barn is tall and curved to meet at the center of the building. The walls and the roof both are painted red and is weathered. In the background is a large pasture bordered by trees.

Red Barn Near Moose Jaw Junction

I spent ten years in Northern Michigan in my teen years and I spent time in many of my friends barns. These were great hangouts for kids.
In this case I really liked the color of the overall scene with the green grass in the foreground and the blue sky in the background seems to be a perfect setting for a nice red barn.

Red Barn Near Moose Jaw Junction This is an image of an older barn near Moose Jaw Junction in Northern Michigan. The foreground consist of a freshly harvested wheat field. There is a small birch tree on the left front of the barn with a blue spruce on the edge of the frame. The right side of the image is a large maple. The barns roof is slowly decaying and missing some shingles. The painted red boards are all fading and in many cases completely bare of paint, There is another smaller out building next to the barn. Behind the barn is a cornfield and further beyond is a forest marking the boundary of the farm.
