Last time the players caught the local bandits, this time they hunted down the maneating bear they encountered back then. After the fight they found themselves under observation by a giant, who left them in peace and went his way. A quick trip to the goblin castle the next day found their goblin friends had been attacked by the giant and the victims being devoured by wolves. Moreau VazhIt is quite striking... I have been messing with Backswords & Bucklers, a first-generation <a href="https://dice.camp/tags/osr" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#osr</a> white box hack and it is light as a feather. LotFP similarly has none of these weird Walking Simulation rules but look at an OSR title produced after 2020 and you see an obsession with torches and travel distances starting to creep in.

This trend can be traced back to one blog post and it's now pretty much ubiquitous to the point where it's almost as though people have stopped noticing the presence of those rules and rare is the person who has pointed out that this isn't necessary and is actually a) quite onerous in the amount of headspace it requires and b) slows sessions to an actual crawl.

BerndGestern hatten wir in unserer Gruppe, mit der wir versuchen, verschiedene PnP-Systeme auszuprobieren, das erste Mal „Brindlewood Bay“ auf dem Tisch. Wir haben uns jeder eine sog. „Kennerin“ erstellt und das war schon so ein tolles Erlebnis, der Charakter fühlte sich gleich richtig greifbar an.
