These black locust flowers are gorgeous, hanging in heavy bunches from the trees. Can anyone tell my what kind of fly(?) that is pollinating it?

Native Solomon's Seal is actually coming up! It takes 2 years for these bastards to germinate.
Double dormancy: Seeds need a
cold, moist period followed by a warm, moist period followed by a 2nd cold, moist period: Sow seeds outdoors in the fall and expect germination after 2 years. #NativePlants

Wax currant growing on the hillside
Apparently there are a dozen species of currant around, potentially?
I don't understand why people want grass that doesn't bloom or produce seeds, or change colours.
Leafcutter bees are back. They don't mind me near the flowers, but they're camera shy. This one was sweet to gift one photo
The little grass still left is already cut, but the exuberant wildflowers are not weeds, and the few thistles among them are well hidden, .
So, it will be like every year: By the time of the June deadline many wildflowers will be finished and have become compost.
But for extra protection against a potential town budget squeeze and a resulting "how can we get more money", we'll have the place certified as a "native plant habitat".
Everybody will be happy again.
