David B. Himself<p><span>So, remember how a couple of days ago, I said I was going to try to turn a Wordpress site into a Fediverse solo instance?<br><br>I tried.<br><br>First, I took an old unused site, I stripped it of all unnecessary plugins and installed all the ActivityPub related plugins. I could log in with Elk and Phanpy with it, followed a few people, posted a few things...<br><br>However, while I could see the Fediverse, the site remained invisible to the rest of the Fediverse. I have no idea why.<br><br>Step two: I took another active site that already has the ActivityPub plugin. I activated the "author accounts" installed a few more plugins and... It's a bit of a mess. It's very slow, I can log in with Phanpy but not with Elk. I can follow the account from Mastodon or Firefish, but I don't see the posts. (when I post a regular blog post, it eventually shows up on my regular feeds but it can take time). And it's overall very slow.<br><br>So in conclusion, I warmly advise you to set up the ActivityPub plugin to your Wordpress sites so that people can follow them from the Fediverse, but that's it. Using a Wordpress site as a "regular" Fediverse instance is a fun experiment, but it's not very practical. Maybe it is if you're way more knowledgeable than me about server things and can tweak yours, probably.<br><br>Next, I'm really curious about Ghost on the Fediverse, but I already have a hosted Ghost newsletter, I'm not sure if it's wise to start yet another blog/newsletter on GhostPro. Maybe I should just wait for federation to become available for all Ghost installations.<br><br><br></span><a href="https://firefish.city/tags/Fediverse" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fediverse</a><span> </span><a href="https://firefish.city/tags/ActivityPub" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ActivityPub</a><span> </span><a href="https://firefish.city/tags/Wordpress" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Wordpress</a><span> </span><a href="https://firefish.city/tags/Ghost" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Ghost</a><span> </span><a href="https://firefish.city/tags/GhostPro" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GhostPro</a></p>

. Aber Ghost und SMTP ... auch so ein Drama, E-Mail selbst macht außer Nerds wie mir kaum noch jemand.</p><p>Und dann ist da noch die nicht vorhandene Medienverwaltung in Ghost ...</p><p>Und so bleibt es bei Patreon + WordPress</p><p><a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/WordPress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WordPress</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/Ghost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ghost</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/ghostpro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ghostpro</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/CMS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CMS</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/PayPal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PayPal</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/Stripe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Stripe</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/Patreon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Patreon</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/Fotografie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fotografie</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/Fotos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fotos</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/bezahlschranke" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bezahlschranke</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/newsletter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>newsletter</span></a> <a href="https://kinkytaboo.online/tags/paypal" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>paypal</span></a></p>
Matthew Reinbold<p>Well, this <a href="https://opinuendo.com/tags/Substack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Substack</span></a> to <a href="https://opinuendo.com/tags/GhostPro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GhostPro</span></a> migration is going about as well as I expected it to - which is to say, mixed. </p><p>On one hand, some things are super slick (updating referential links *inside* the posts to their new homes? NICE). On the other hand, there's still going to be a ton of manual work based on how images are handled. And I guess its good I've been suspended until I attest where I imported my list from but - COME ON - I followed the admin UI's import wizard - they have this info. <a href="https://opinuendo.com/tags/ghost" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ghost</span></a></p>
