How many people remember the story of Lorena Bobbitt?

How many people think she hurt her husband because he was cheating on her?

Or do you remember that she was an immigrant he was threatening with deportation if she didn’t shut up and accept the marital rape?

I forgot about the propaganda that made her a joke, and I’m embarrassed that I have also joked in her name: “Lorena Bobbitt only did 28 days” as a #FAFO reminder to bad men. (she might have only done 23 days, but 28 days sounds like she went to a treatment type facility so maybe that’s why my brain is confused)

But I remembered that story wasn’t about cheating or a woman scorned it was about a woman who was being terrorized by her husband who saw no way to make it stop without being deported and forced to leave her child behind.

I forgot about the propaganda until I was talking to a younger woman about her, and this lady looked up her story and was shocked because she remembered the Saturday Night Live skits, she always thought this happened because an American woman was angry she got cheated on.

Lorena Bobbitt brought attention to marital rape and I should probably go look into it more before I say these things but in my memory this case was what changed societal opinions about the entitlement of husbands to their wives bodies. She’s a queen in my opinion.

I think one of the darkest omens so far about what the future holds for the US workforce can be found in some recent 10k filings, where firms outline potential material risks/events that could impact stock price.
Companies have started filing them about their use of AI, openly acknowledging that these systems will make mistakes and there will be damages that can't be guessed, but the savings on staff outweigh the expected risks. Which is to say, corporate America is going full steam ahead on staff replacement and guessing at the risks, so we're in that fun phase where we see what firm becomes synonymous with catastrophic failure, leading to regulation. What fun!
