The Rachel Pollack #DoomPatrol Omnibus was immense. Inevitably it will be compared to Grant Morrisons run which immediately preceded it and yeah it's not 'as good' but it's good enough to get a 10/10 (I don't know, you make it make sense).

Featuring a #trans character whose first 'superhero' action we see is basically melting a suped up incels mech-phallus. Way ahead of its time. This is going in my top tier of #comics

I really don't read superhero comics, never have. But, sometimes I check them out because a creator is involved that I find interesting.

Now I'm reading #DoomPatrol as told by #GrantMorrison, and boy is it a strange ride!

I'm never sure when reading stories by Grant Morrison whether I like them, or even understand what I'm reading. Somehow I keep coming back, though.

I somehow wish I could capture the feeling of reading Morrison's stories in a #ttrpg. Is it an #OverTheEdge game?

Still waiting for people to stop focusing on Marvel's tokenism & corporate Pride dress up long enough to notice DC released a queer masterpiece over 30 hours long. Even a multi-season closet/self-acceptance arc. And tells a complete volume of story with a proper end. #DoomPatrol

So #GrantMorrison's run of #DoomPatrol is frankly much more fun than even my enjoyment of the TV show had led me to believe it would be.

It's understandable why the live-action TV show would shy away from some of the more wild concepts that might well work better in comics.

These comics are absolutely wild nonsense. Truly chaotic.

Amazing.

One of my favorite scenes in Doom Patrol is when Dorothy's in the bathroom of a gas station and gets her first period. A woman walks by and sees the blood and talks to her about it, reassuring her that it's all gonna be okay. She even grabs her a pad and a fresh change of clothes. It's so full of kindness, and I love it.
