It is a mainstay in most of my characters' backstories. 6 out of 7.

Both Shishi and Ume are estranged from their family. They feel alienated to the point that one ghosts their family, leaving one night without saying a word, and the other only says goodbye because they need to get a sacred object that was left for them.

We don't know the full details of Kan-chan, but as an #ASexual she feels alienated from a family that believes she should be getting married.
