Para dar paso a esos campos industriales de palmeras, se talaron alrededor de 12.000 hectáreas de <a href="https://social.bakunin.nohost.me/tags/selvatropical" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>selvatropical</span></a>, un tramo de destrucción que un líder indígena calificó como un acto de <a href="https://social.bakunin.nohost.me/tags/ecogenocidio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ecogenocidio</span></a>. Los biólogos del Museo Field de Chicago han clasificado las montañas escarpadas que se elevan al oeste de las plantaciones "entre las más diversas de todas las áreas de conservación en Perú". Cuando el equipo del museo examinó la región durante tres semanas en el año 2000, contabilizó 1.600 especies de plantas, 71 especies de mamíferos y más de 500 especies de aves. Al menos 28 especies eran nuevas para la <a href="https://social.bakunin.nohost.me/tags/ciencia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ciencia</span></a>.</p><p>Desde la década de 1960, se ha acabado con más del 13% de la selva amazónica original. GraadYeah<p>On March 31, 2017, the capital of the department of Putumayo was hit by a torrential downpour. That night and early the next morning, the Mulato, Sangoyako and Mocoa rivers overflowed. Floods and landslides devastated the town. More than 300 people died and more than 15,000 were injured.</p><p>► Eight years and three presidents have passed since the disaster, but Mocoa has still not been rebuilt. </p><p>'Mocoa is located in the foothills of the Andes-Amazon, between torrential rivers and behind a young mountain range, still in formation and therefore unstable. 💦The nature of these waters is that they transport sediments, sticks and stones that then fertilize the soils of the Amazon plain and contribute to the nutrient cycle of the Atlantic Ocean. 🌊 Mocoa is a wetland, a transition zone with microclimates, biodiversity and vital biological corridors, an amphibious place blessed by its water resources in addition to its biocultural heritage. 🐆🦋🐟🦜🪱 Their rivers are neither brave nor guilty, nor do they deserve to be violated by an intensive system of mitigation works. ⛰️ Their mountains cannot be stabilized by force with slopes, anchors and cement.'</p><p>Photo by me, dec. 2013 when i was in Mocoa, Putumayo.
