For we're celebrating and this week, it's TV shows.

Created by Simpsons' showrunner Mike Reiss, Queer Duck was not the first gay cartoon character on TV by long shot. His show was, however, the first cartoon broadcast (in 2000) with explicit LGBT themes & lead character and later broadcast on Teletoon and Showtime.

Although not a giant, the show remains a milestone nonetheless.

Chris Nee is the creator of the hit kids show Doc McStuffins. Nee describes herself as a gay “relatively butch” woman who tried her hand at acting before realising there were [a lot] more opportunities for her behind the camera. She created Doc McStuffins to be the show she wished existed when growinng up and it was the first pre-school show to feature and LGBTQ couple in 2017.

Rebecca Sugar is best known for Steven Universe which was the first show on Cartoon Network to openly feature LGBTQ themes. Sugar herself identifies as bisexual and non-binary and has stated that Steven Universe helped her come to terms with her own identity; something many of its fans can relate to.

So I'm coming up short on a list of animated films with characters and themes. The Mitchells Vs. The Machines is an obvious one but does anyone know any others?

I feel we should do something to celebrate but what? :blobthinking:

Profiles and posts on Mastodon and the Fediverse have public versions you can share with people who aren't on the Fediverse.

To see the public version of a profile, click on the profile picture. This will open the public version of the profile in a new tab.

To see the public version of a post, click on the datestamp below the post. This will open the public version of the post in a new tab.

These "public pages" are handy for sharing with friends, because they don't require logging in to see them.

Public pages are also very useful for something else:

If you paste the URL address of a public page into the search box on Mastodon, and then search for it, the post or profile will appear within your server. This is handy if you cannot find a post or person by searching, but you know they exist on another server.

Searching for a URL like this forces your server to "notice" the profile or post.

It also works with URLs from PeerTube, PixelFed etc.
