I did a little series of sugar skull animals, one of which was this .
When I was in high school and first started using pen and ink, most of what I did was in a style. I've always loved it, and have recently been incorporating it into my work again.

Black ink illustration of a cat skull, done in a pointillism style for all the shading. The skull has red watercolour folk-style patterns of leaves and flowers decorating it, and there are cat ears above the skull with the fur done in linework. Below the skull is a filigree border with three roses along it, and there is a little skeleton key hanging from the bottom. There is also a little mouse along the filigree border on one side of the skull and a red-winged blackbird in flight on the other.. each of the little animals have their skulls and spines visible. The blackbird has a touch of red watercolour on its shoulders. In each corner of the illustration is a faint lacy pattern done in grey watercolour, like a quartered part of a doily.
